    All communication between student and teacher takes place in our safe state of the art online classroom. To see how it works, visit the How it Works section of our website.
    Click on the Start a session link and then follow these steps: Click on Sign Up Fill out the form with your email address, a password and username you'll remember, your name, your time zone, and where you heard about us. Click "Register”, and an activation email will be send to your email account. Click on the activation link to activate your account. Once you click the link to activate your account, you will be sent to the log in page. Log In using the user name and password you selected. For first time users, you will be prompted to collect your free minutes. Please accept the free minutes and start a live session. If you need more minutes select add minutes in your account and select the package that suits you.
    Yes! Every session is anonymous, so teachers don't have access to any personal information about the students. Plus, all teachers must pass rigorous screening before they are allowed to have sessions with students. Finally, all sessions for the past 90 days are recorded and available for your review at any time (we review them, too).
    Webteachers.com is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! As an online service Webteachers.com may periodically be unavailable as we perform regular maintenance and upgrades.

    WebTeachers.com is geared toward 4th-12th graders and college students in introductory level classes.
    Webteachers.com adheres to national and state standards. The teachers make it a point to be involved in the regular academic activities of the student.
    Webteachers.com only hires experienced teachers - all have a master's degree or Ph.D., or a bachelor's degree and additional degrees in education. Most have 5-10 years teaching experience and teaching credentials. The teachers undergo weeks of intensive training and pass stringent certification exams. Our teachers adhere to national and state academic standards and curricula.
    Please bring a question to your session and get ready to learn! Our teachers will help you with your questions but they won't simply give you the answers. Respect your teacher. Do not use inappropriate language or share inappropriate materials in the classroom.

Session


    Connecting to a teacher is easy—just Sign In to your account (if you don't have one yet, Sign Up for a new account), choose your subject and grade level, type your question, and click on connect. Then, we'll connect you with a certified, professional teacher instantly!
    No! You don't need to schedule appointments – all sessions are on a first come, first served basis. A large number of online teachers are available on demand, so when you sign in, you'll be connected with the first available teacher immediately.
    We have hundreds of students making various requests and we try to connect them to the correct teacher as quickly as possible. Normally, this should happen within 2 minutes, but sometimes it may take longer if you have more homework than we all expected!
    All of our teachers are certified, screened, and professionals in their subjects. But sometimes they may not be able to help you. If a teacher can not help you then you can ask to get help from a supervisor. Also, remember if you are ever unsatisfied with your session you can always request a credit for that session.
    No. You will only be charged for the time you spend with a teacher to the closest minute. Unlike many tutoring centers, you don’t get charged for a full hour if you only need help for 15 minutes. You will get charged only for 15 minutes.
    You should select the grade level of the class you need help with. For instance, if you're a sixth grader taking eighth grade algebra, you should sign in for eighth grade algebra when you need help for that class so that we connect you to the appropriate teacher.

Technical


    To use Webteachers.com you will need either:

    a) PC running Microsoft™ Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista with Internet Explorer 7 or higher and Adobe™ Flash Player 10 or higher.

    b) Mac running OS X with Safari 3.2 or higher or Firefox 3 or higher and Adobe™ Flash Player 10 or higher.

    Technical support is only available to users that meet these minimum system requirements. Other browsers and operating systems are not supported. If you do not have Flash plug-in installed, you may download it here.
    We use Adobe™ Flash Player 10 or higher to give you the best experience possible. Before you start a session, your computer will automatically install it, if it is not already installed on your computer. If it does not start automatically, then follow the instructions to start the installation process: Go to Adobe's™ website www.adobe.com to install the Flash plug-in. Click "agree and install now" to begin the download Click "Run" to continue the installation Note: you may need to restart your browser. When the installation is complete, you may need to sign in at www.webteachers.com again.
    There are many good headphones and graphics tablets to choose from. We do recommend the student uses a headphone with a built in microphone. A headphone provides excellent sound quality, blocks out distracting room noise and lets you speak into the microphone hands-free. A tablet allows you to use a pencil instead of a mouse to draw on the whiteboard and makes the online class environment much more user friendly.

Account Information


    Sign into your account, select (Account Manager) to update your email address, password, and billing information.
    If you have more than one child, each of your children can have a unique username and password. Everyone uses minutes from the same account, but will be able to review their sessions separately and sign in under their own first names. Plus, if you have multiple computers, more than one child can get help at the same time!
    Creating student logins for each of your children allows you to track and report on their usage separately. Student logins cannot purchase minutes or update billing information, only the primary account holder has those privileges.
    Sign In into your account and under (Account Manager)you can 'Add/Edit Users'. Click on ‘add user’ and enter into the form, a username, student's first name and a password -- then click 'Create’. The student may now sign into Webteachers.com using the Username and Password you have just created.
    The Teaching Session Summary provides you with a quick rundown of session data that is broken down by user, total number of sessions, average user rating and time in session in the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
    The Previous Sessions feature allows you to review all session transcripts within the past 90 days. Each session transcript contains all chat, whiteboards, Web page visits and files shared during the session. This gives you the control to monitor exactly how the student is interacting with Webteachers.com. It also allows the student to review all questions asked, should they need to brush up on any previously addressed subject. Clicking the ‘Get More Help’ link next to a session will allow you to begin a new session by preloading your initial question and whiteboard from that session.
    After you sign in to your account, click on the ‘Add more Minutes’ tab. On this page, you will see a list of purchasing options. Select the option you wish to purchase and click 'continue' to add minutes to your account.
    You can click on forgot user name and follow the directions. Your user name will be emailed to the email address we have on file for your account.

    Customer Service is available by phone and through online chat 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also Sign In to your account and click “Customer Support” and select “Contact Us By Email” to send us an email.

    If you are not satisfied with any of your sessions, Sign In into your account, click on the ‘Account Manager’ tab, and click on request a session credit from there. Or click on ‘contact us by email’ to send us an email explaining the issue.

    We know that this is a serious investment and you want to make sure that it is being managed properly. Therefore we have a comprehensive reporting system which will allow the master user to see exactly how many minutes are being used by each user. In addition, you can independently allocate as many minutes or as few minutes as you would like to each user independently. We will also provide you posters and brochures, to inform everyone in your organization about this extraordinary service.

For Teachers


    Online teaching with webteachers.com is a service where students are able to connect to a teacher online by logging on to our website and using an online classroom. Teachers and students can communicate directly with each other on a one to one basis for help in homework, test preparation.
    The online classroom is a collaboration tool which allows the teacher and student to talk to each other (VoIP), watch each other (video conferencing), and draw problems on an interactive whiteboard. There is nothing to download, and all the teacher and the student have to do is log onto Webteachers.com to use this feature.
    Webteachers.com is currently recruiting teachers for Math, English, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Integrated Science streams. However, you are encouraged to apply for any other subjects also since we may have a future requirement. We tutor all grades from the 4th grade to the undergraduate college level. Most of our students are in high school and in middle school.
    Yes, we have openings for both part-time and full-time teachers. Teaching schedule hours are pre-scheduled and committed and cannot be done on a freelance or ad hoc basis. With prior notice, you can change the timings/ subjects to suit your feasibility. For example, if you commit to 6 PM to 9 PM, for 6 days a week, you need to be available for those hours on a regular basis.
    Most of the teaching happens during evening /night time as our students are based in different time zones. Tutoring is a serious activity and requires commitment. We do not have openings for ad hoc or floating teachers.
    We expect the tutors to have a Masters in their subject and some experience in teaching. For certain grades and subjects a graduate degree in the subject and an additional degree in education also will be accepted. We may take exceptional candidates with strong academic records, as trainee tutors without prior teaching experience. Familiarity with computers / good English communication skills is mandatory.

    Understand the student's needs and objectives. Provide quality online tutoring to all students using tools and your own skills and knowledge. Be abreast with the Webteachers.com policies and code of conduct. Participate in the Webteachers.com training and development sessions. Read and respond to all communication from Webteachers.com. Be available at the agreed times for sessions and inform in advance in case of any change in availability. Work on and build a world-class service offering with the Webteachers.com team.
    You will receive training on computer usage, technology tools used for on-line tutoring, basics of on-line tutoring, communication skills, familiarization of Webteachers.com content and methodology and US/UK curriculum and syllabus for various grades. The duration will vary depending on the training need but will typically span over 15 days covering 30 hours of work. There will be trial sessions with our trainers and other teachers during the program. There will be a certification and test at the end of the training program. Only those who successfully complete the certification would be selected to teach the students. The certification test would cover all aspects of training and full length trial sessions. There is no charge or fees for training and certification.
    We offer competitive salaries. Pay is based on the number of minutes you schedule and tutor online. More details on compensation will be provided once the application is submitted.
    Webteachers.com teachers reach certification as soon as they pass their probationary period of 6 months.
    Please submit your information online. Our recruitment team will send you an introductory mail which will explain the next steps. A date for an interview/test will be set up. Once you are selected you will then be enrolled for the training and certification. After successful completion of the training and certification you will then start teaching students.
